Being positive about snow

The drifts have melted revealing the patio! We hadn't seen it since September

The drifts have melted revealing the patio! We hadn’t seen it since September

Since I have whined, moaned, complained, and expressed my displeasure with the severity of our winter this year, I have decided to make only positive statements about the pictures of our latest snow storm. Here goes…Isn’t it great that the flakes are big and falling fast?  The moisture content  is wonderful for our yard and pasture, and it isn’t below zero!  Doing the happy dance!! The thing I love the most about this storm is that the wind is not howling…what a treat!  This storm did not last as long as the others storms we have had…what a blessing.  How am I doing?  Positive mental attitude, right?  Truthfully, Spring HAS sprung and it is not bad walking out the door into the snow and mud while the birdies are chirping and “dancing for Spring”.  Some of the trees are budding and I have noticed some green on the ground.  There are tulips trying to come up as well…actual blossoms are sure to follow!  I think we will survive.

Mardi Gras King Cake

Mardi Gras King Cake

The traditional King Cake has a small baby hidden in it. Whoever finds the baby in their piece will be the host of the party next year. The baby was found, and not by Pat…again. Bonnie will be the host next year! The King Cake is more a bread than a cake, in fact, it is more like a cinnamon roll.

Signs of life

Signs of life

On this day of my birth I am giving thanks for the many blessings in my life. My husband, my children, Tara, Seamus, Sara & E, my family, my dear friends, for the warmth of the sun and all the twinkling stars that light up the night, and of course, our lovable dog. With a hint of spring in the air (finally) I feel a bit of life seeping back into my bones after our long drawn out winter. I feel blessed to hear the birds chirping throughout the day and I love the smell of the earth as it begins thawing under the warmth of the sun. The promise of spring is alive today and I am thankful for my blessings!
